Sourced from Madagascar and coming straight to your dōTERRA collection, it’s Ginger to the rescue! The ginger plant has a long history of uses in traditional health practices, and it continues to be trusted today for its soothing properties. Earthy and warming, dōTERRA Ginger essential oil is derived from the fresh rhizome, or underground stem that shoots out the roots of the plant. (It’s a vocabulary lesson and essential oil how-to wrapped up in one; you’re welcome!)

In the East, Ginger is a featured ingredient in many Asian dishes and is known for its hot, fragrant flavor in the kitchen. In the West, it’s most often used in sweets such as gingerbread and gingersnaps. Isn’t it interesting how people in different areas of the world choose to utilize the same flavor so differently? One use we can probably all agree on is that Ginger is a tried and true, go-to digestive aid that helps ease occasional nausea and indigestion.

Ginger essential oil can be applied topically or inhaled to make use of its soothing aroma. If motion doesn’t agree well with you, place a drop in the palm your hand and breathe deeply during a long car ride. You can also apply it over your lower abdomen to help support healthy digestion, affecting such maladies as bloating, gas, and occasional nausea.

To create a warming, energizing, revitalizing effect, diffuse dōTERRA Ginger by itself or in concert with other aromas. Some of Ginger’s best friends include Frankincense, Cinnamon, and Grapefruit. They blend exceptionally well together, and by now you can probably see why this oil is so easy to get along with! Here are two diffuser blends to help you get started using Ginger.
